Friday Inspiration

Kate Moss, green shorts and "Things that hipsters like" by Jenni Sparks.

I went to Oxford University to look round this week and was just so amazed. Some of the building are really intimidating but I loved New College where I stayed; the bit in Harry Potter where Malfoy is turned into a ferret was filmed there! It was so exciting and really inspired me to work hard and buckle down. All the students and tutors were lovely, I so so hope I can get to go there, even if it is very unlikely.

Pocket dress

Burberry long coat
$1,495 - burberry.com

Aso
$44 - asos.com

FS NY ballerina flat
$162 - asos.com

Paul Joe matte lipstick
$27 - asos.com

Ever since the new Paul & Joe cat range came out I have been dying to get this 'Sex Kitten' lipstick. It has little paw prints on it and, as always, beautiful packaging.

The other day I watched my first Brigitte Bardot film - "Et Dieu... Créa La Femme." C'était merveilleux! Bardot is fantastic in it; I really sympathised with her character, Juliette, who's adored by all men and scorned for it.

Most of all, however, the film has made me want to go on holiday to St Tropez, hire a boat to lounge around in and ride a bike barefoot around town!

Here she is in the film...

Mulberry’s Autumn/Winter 2012 campaign starring Linsey Wixson and shot by Tim Walker

I am a massive fan of Mulberry and love their new campaign. Autumn is one of my favourite seasons and I love wrapping up for the cold, crisp English weather (e.g. rain as per). I like the 'Where the Wild Things are' vibe this has with the fluffy monster in the background and, of course, the bags are to die for.

I'm still a bit undecided about the Del Rey bag though (in the last image), most people seem to love it but I'm not too sure.

What do you think?

Stone Coin Purse by Hirotoshi Ito, Miu Miu and Eniko Mihalik for The Room Magazine

I went to Oxford yesterday which was amazing. I did an English afternoon and met some of the tutors from St Peter's College, and it's really inspired me to work super hard for university. I was quite intimidated at first - everyone seems so clever and the buildings are really old and big; amazing architecture everywhere. Hopefully I'll be able to do well enough to get into Oxford, but the afternoon made me realise that whichever university I go to,  I'll enjoy an English and French course because I just love talking about and seeing all the different viewpoints and interpretations of literature.

What Music Looks Like - Martin Klimas, 2011

“Like a 3-D take on Jackson Pollock, the latest work by Klimas begins with splatters of paint positioned on a scrim over the diaphragm of a speaker. Then the volume is turned up. For each image, Klimas selects music—typically something dynamic and percussive, like Stockhausen, Miles Davis or Kraftwerk—and the vibration of the speaker sends the paint aloft in patterns that reveal themselves through the lens of his camera.”

Top, L-R:

1. Miles Davis

2. Paul Hindemith

3. Pink Floyd

4. Kraftwerk

5. Charlie Parker

6. Grace Jones

7. J.S. Bach

See more of his work here.

L'Après Midi | Karmen Pedaru, Giedre Dukauskaite & Bara Holotova by Claudia Knoepfel & Stefan Indlekofer for W (June 2009)

This editorial really reminds me of holidays when I was little, lounging around all day and getting up to mischief with my little brother and sister. Thinking back now, we were really horrible children; we had 13 different child-minders (like in Nanny McPhee) because we were so badly-behaved, and were even asked to go on Supernanny, although my mum would never let us!
